At Metal Blessing Radio, I have always stressed the importance of reading God’s Word and feeding your spirit. Just like your physical body requires food to grow and become stronger, so does your spirit require its’ own form of food for as Jesus said in Matthew 4:4:
“People do not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God”
For some, getting closer to God may seem like an impossible task, if this is you then read further. You want to get closer to God, and you listen for his voice but you never hear anything, what are you doing wrong? Well here’s something to think about: How do you recognize the voice of one whom you do not know? The simple fact is that you need to make an effort to learn about Him and open your spirit up to Him. You do this by feeding your spirit.
Like many things, feeding your spirit only sounds silly until you actually do it and see the effects. You feed your spirit by taking in the Word of God, whether that is reading the Bible, listening to sermons, or even listening to Christian music rather than worldly music.
According to 1 Corinthians 10:13:
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
It is comforting to know that God will never allow us to be tempted beyond our capability. The more you feed your spirit the stronger it becomes, thus you will find that temptation is easier to overcome. It all starts with choosing to read a chapter of the Bible instead of watching your favorite show.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”
Here Paul tells us about the battle between the flesh and spirit. What do you think is “every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God”? It can be anything in your life that you place in a higher priority than God. For example it can be movies, video games, or virtually anything. That’s not to say any of those are forbidden, but that you need to place God in the number one spot. The Metal Blessing Radio Challenge is intended to challenge you to do just that, feed your spirit. This is a one week program that could change your life forever, and it is very easy. All I ask that you do is cut out non-Christian music from your life for one week, listening to only music that glorifies God. In addition, read at least one chapter of the Bible each day, starting in the Gospels.
Upon completion of this program take note of if you feel any different than you did the week before, and how? Also be sure to complete and send back one of the forms below so you can get a free Metal Blessing Radio wristband. Just send them back to:
